A floor piece built like a tapestry: a fortress rendered in cold stone greys, framed by deep crimson and antique gold. It reads as architecture before it reads as decoration.

Design Story

The composition is strictly centred. A many-towered castle occupies the upper field under a bruised, cloud-heavy sky, flanked by two perched ravens and two shields — fleur-de-lis on one side, a cross on the other. Below, stone-set gargoyles sit on plinths at either edge, holding the corners like bookends. The focal anchor is the lower crest: a gold lion on oxblood, crowned, with crossed swords running diagonally beneath it. The border does the quiet work — scrolling gold arabesques over dark red, with fleur-de-lis medallions at the mid-points and corners, so the eye is drawn inward rather than off the edge.

Room & Styling

At room scale the near-black ground behaves like negative space, letting pale parquet and cream upholstery read as light around it. Motif scale is generous enough to hold a full seating arrangement without the crest disappearing under a coffee table. Viewed from standing height the heraldry resolves clearly; from a seat, the border rhythm takes over. Best placed as the room's single statement floor piece.
